N.A.R.C. Program

The July 2006 Nixa ARC Program project will be: Field Trip to visit K5GO.

Allen Busiek, WF5U, has arranged for us to visit K5GO, a superb contest station located in the mountains near Harrison AR. This is a top-notch, one-of-a-kind opportunity. Even if you are not into contesting, this is worth the trip to visit a very unique station.

Details for the Field Trip:

  • Meet at McDonalds in Ozark (Hwy 14 and US 65) at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, July 29th for carpool / caravan to K5GO, with an expected return about 2:00 p.m.

  • Travel time to K5GO is about 85 minutes, with a distance of about 66 miles.

  • All NARC and SMARC members, guests, and any other prospective Hams are invited. This is a good opportunity to bring guests & introduce them to Ham camaraderie.

  • We need to get a rough headcount ahead of time because Stan Stockton, K5GO, has graciously offered to feed us pizza and sodas for lunch.

If you want to go on this Field Trip, please e-mail Allen Busiek (abusiek@mchsi.com) or Jeff Kerr (kc0vgc@nixahams.net) at your earliest convenience with the following information:

  • Your name/callsign (if applicable) as well as the name(s)/callsign(s) of guests that will be with you
  • If you can/will drive ( Y / N )
  • If driving, how many extra seats do you have available for ride-sharing. ( ____ )
  • If driving, will your vehicle be a smoking vehicle ( Y / N )
  • If not driving, we will assume you need a ride (from McDonalds in Ozark – unless indicated otherwise)

Send questions via e-mail to programs@nixahams.net

*****Special Business Meeting******

Official notice of a VERY IMPORTANT special business meeting!

The meeting will be held at the Pizza Hut in Nixa, Missouri on US 160 at RT CC on Saturday, December 17th at 4:30 p.m. This meeting will last no more than 30 minutes.

The club will be voting on 4 things:

  • Amended and Restated Articles of Incorporation of the Nixa Amateur Radio Club, Inc.
    • These must be amended and filed with the State of Missouri before we can apply for 501(c)(3)

  • Adoption of a "Conflicts of Interest Policy" for the Nixa Amateur Radio Club, Inc.
    • This must be adopted before we can apply for 501(c)(3) status

  • Adoption and Signing of the "Consent Resolution of the Executive Committee" for the Nixa Amateur Radio Club, Inc.
    • This must also be adopted and signed before 501(c)(3) status can be obtained

  • Adopt the amended and restated Constitution and Bylaws of the Nixa Amateur Radio Club, Inc.
    • These will be sent in with the 501(c)(3) paperwork
Once these items are adopted, they will have to be voted on again at the REGULAR December meeting, to be held on December 31, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the residence of Jeff Kerr, KC0VGC. [Click Here for December (Christmas) Meeting Information]

It is VERY important we have a quorum of the members at this special meeting. If you cannot attend, please vote by Proxy. A Proxy form will be sent out allowing you to vote if you cannot be in attendance. The Proxy will include an attachment with all proposed changes for you to review before casting your vote at the meeting or by Proxy. Proxy votes can be hand-delivered to any of the club officers or e-mailed to kc0lun@nixahams.net If you have any questions about this process, please contact James Adkins by e-mail at kb0nhx@nixahams.net or by phone at 725-4884.

If these changes are not approved at the December 17th meeting and ratified at the Christmas meeting on December 31st, we WILL NOT be able to apply for 501(c)3 status.

The 501(c)(3) paperwork is in the process of being completed in anticipation of approval with these necessary changes. If all is approved and ratified, we should be 501(c)(3) within 4 to 6 weeks after the paperwork is filed. We would like to have 501(c)(3) status before the awarding of grant monies by the Nixa Community Foundation (if we receive any). They are doing us a favor by letting us apply as a 501(c)(4) organization (technically they didn't have to let us apply), but are willing to work with us if we are awarded grant money and do not receive 501(c)(3) status in time.

December (Christmas) Meeting

Club meeting will be on Saturday, December 31st at 1:30 p.m. at the residence of Jeff Kerr, KC0VGC. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Snacks and soft-drinks will be provided, but feel free to bring your favorite dish and/or drinks.

It will be a fun time for everyone, including children, to meet and talk. All are encouraged to RSVP to Jeff Kerr by e-mailing christmas@nixahams.net.
